Thank You for Your New Membership Application

Welcome to the Twin Cities Sailing Club’s 2016 season! Your membership application has been received, and we are delighted you’ve decided to join us. You should get a couple of emails in quick succession: a receipt from Stripe (our payment processor) and an email from the Sailing Club.

Getting Started with TCSC

  1. Weekly Email Newsletter
You have already been added to our email list for Jibs & Jibes, our weekly email newsletter, which will start up for the season in April.
  2. New Member Orientation Guide (pdf)
This has basic information about the club, sailing, what you need to bring, where to meet, etc.
  3. 2016 TCSC Club Handbook (pdf)
A new Club Manual, slightly updated for this season.
  4. Slack – Online Chats & Discussions
Club news announcements, plus connect with other sailors and sail outside of club times (for members only). We will add you to our Slack group (if you’re not already on it), but that’s a manual thing so it will take a couple days. You can use online, or download the free Slack apps for your phone, tablet or computer.
  5. Club Document Library
An archive of club information for members and for the Executive Committee. The username and password will come as part of every Jibs and Jibes (our weekly email newsletter). On the log in page, make sure you click to the “Sign in with a different account” link (at the bottom of the page).
  6. OSS (aka, Online Skipper/Instructor Scheduler and Member Directory)
This online tool serves both as a membership directory for the club, and as a calendar for volunteering for skipper duty (volunteering as an instructor once you’ve gone through our rigorous sailing instruction and have “skippered out”).

What’s Next?
Sailing season has already begun! Come on down to Lake Harriet for any regular Club Sailing time (see days and times below).

Sailing Club Orientation
As a kick-off for new members, please come to our New Member Meeting — or you can just come down to Lake Harriet a few minutes before Club Sailing (see times below), and we’ll introduce you to the club. But please come to:

Times for Regular Club Sailing
Club Sailing times (organized sailing with shore team & instruction) are Tuesday evenings (5:30-8:00 pm) and Saturday mornings (9:00-11:30 am) and Sunday afternoons (1-3:30pm, through mid-June). Once you “Skipper Out” (complete the club training and become a club-certified sailor), you will have access to our boats on a first-come, first-serve basis — any time outside of club sailing, that is. And when you’re a steady and confident Skipper, we’ll ask you to give back to the community and volunteer as an instructor for the next generation of TCSC sailors.

Your First Chance to Sail
You are now a full member of the sailing club, so we want to get you out on the water as soon as possible. Come down to Lake Harriet and join us for any Club Sailing time (see days and times above). We meet at a picnic table by the boat shed, which is by the boat launch ramp (and just east of the band shell). Arrive 10-15 minutes before Club Sailing time, and just introduce yourself to the Dock Captain (our volunteer leader for the day), who will be the person at the picnic table with the clipboards. We’ll go through a quick introduction to the club, how we work, and get out on a sailboat!

If you have questions, please feel free to e-mail Nicole at or Commodore Matt “Squid” Stark.

Thanks again! We look forward to seeing you at the lake!
